"Well I been sleepin' for 40 days
I know I'm sleepin' cos this dream's too amazing
She's got gold doorknobs where her eyes used to be
One turn and I learn what it really means to see...
Hey I been sleepin' for 60 days
Nobody better pinch me, I swear I'd go crazy
She's got jumper cable lips
She's got sunset on her breath
I inhaled just a little bit
Now I got no fear of death now..."
-40 Day Dream, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros
Official video:
A little background information on the group--
Edward Sharpe is an extraterrestrial being who was sent to Earth to help and heal humanity, however, he continually distracts himself from his mission when he falls in love... Lucky for us, he also makes great music! The band is planning for a second album in the near future, as well as solo projects from both Alexander (aka Edward Sharpe) and Jade.

She Comes to Me in Dreams
From the Great Lake Swimmers, here is a really happy, genuine song that sings of love and dreams and embodies the happiness of pre-summer- that we are hopefully all experiencing on this gorgeous Saturday. You can see how deeply they are feeling the music they are playing, how authentic they are. They close their eyes and let it flow through them. It's almost as if they are dreaming while playing!
Check out their website (linked above) for tour dates and album information. If you dig this song, you will love their others--

Jealous Guy
"I was dreaming of the past... and my heart was beating fast... I began to lose control. I didn't mean to hurt you. I'm sorry that I made you cry... I'm just a jealous guy."
One of John Lennon's most famous solo songs, it was the first that I recognized as his own as a young girl. The melody and supportive bass bring tears to my eyes, and the lyrics weigh heavily on the soul. A beautiful, complete work of art in all ways, please listen to John Lennon's "Jealous Guy," here with footage from John's life.

Martha's Dream, from The Proposition
An amateur video accompanying the song, "Martha's Dream," by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis which is from The Proposition, a film set in the Australian outback which was also written by Nick Cave. The video features stills of the Australian outback and other images related to the setting of the movie.
See below the video for the transcription of the erie dream Martha describes to her husband, Morris that gives the song not only its title, but also, its mood.
"There's something I want to tell you. I've been having a dream, most nights. I've kept it from you, but I don't suppose it matters now... I'm in a room, it's our bedroom I think. I'm searching for something and then suddenly I feel a presence in the room, and I stand up, and I turn around, and there in the doorway is Eliza Hopkins, and she looks frightful. Her...her dress is all creased and torn, and covered in blood and her face, too. All... battered and bruised, and splashed with blood."
"Martha-"
"But listen to this. In her arms, she's holding something. I can't see what it is. It's covered by her hair. And then she walks towards me, very slowly, and... she hands me a tiny bundle... And I look down, and I see it, it's a baby. A newborn. And this baby, oh it's a beautiful baby, Morris. And it, it opens its eyes, and then I feel a pressure on my hand and I look down and I see that the baby has taken hold of my finger and it's squeezing it tight in its tiny fist... and then I wake up.
"But after I wake it's the strangest thing. I can still feel, I can still feel the pressure of that dream baby's hand. What do you think of that?"

Paul McCartney's Top 10 Dream
Did you know that Paul McCartney created one of the world's most famous songs, "Yesterday," in a dream? It's true! He awoke with the melody in his head, wrote it out immediately, and played it for various people, certain that he must have heard it somewhere before, that it was someone else's song.
But no matter who he played the song for, they told him they had never heard it before. He wrote out some lyrics, (originally "Scrambled eggs, oh my baby how I love your legs") recorded it, and now the song is world-famous!
How's that for a good dream!?

What a Day for a Daydream!
What a day for a daydream!
With the beautiful beginnings of summer all around us, it is only appropriate to watch this short video; the idleness and pure enjoyment can be expressed by this fun and carefree song.
"Daydream" by The Lovin' Spoonful was originally released in 1966 and reached the Billboard no. 2 position that year. Although it is 44 years old, this song still expresses the light mood of a gorgeous summer day. Without further ado, enjoy "Daydream"!

John McCauley's "Goodnight, Irene"
"Goodnight, Irene," a song written in the 19th Century (alternatively known as "Irene, Goodnight,") has been recorded in many versions by various artists. Most recently, it appeared on Deer Tick's "Born on Flag Day" album as the hidden track following the song, "Stung," and moments of silence.
Here is a video of John McCauley (Deer Tick's frontman) doing a solo live performance, in which the lighting is so dim the title of the song seems quite appropriate.

The Dark is Rising
"The Dark is Rising," is the first track and single off Mercury Rev's 2001 release All is Dream. The lyrics are very dream-centric, and emotional, and these, being emitted in Jonathan Donahue's voice, along with the orchestral crescendos and simple strings, give the song its powerful mood. The video has quite a bit to offer in that way as well, with its combination of dark and bright colors, fast-paced nature scenes and even the integration of some surprising steampunk, it is a very dreamy four minutes (and perfect Springtime music)!

Jeff Buckley / Dream Brother
This is an amazing song by Jeff Buckley. An absolutely beautiful live performance! The lights are dim and pastel, it's slightly smokey, and the audience is completely captivated. No stray sounds, no rowdy behavior; it's just Jeff and his supporting musicians. I love how calm he is; the music just pours out of him. And listen to that voice! There is no questioning this is what he was born to do.
